«Pass Me By» Reimagined: Vinny Tovar & Aubry Rodriguez Breathe New Life into the legendary Country Hit

The emerging Country Latino genre has two new faces that are taking the Texas music scene by surprise. Vinny Tovar (San Antonio native) & Aubry Rodriguez (daughter of 70s Country icon Johnny Rodriguez) are the new generation of country artists entering the Country music market and today launch their cover rendition of “Pass Me By” (If You’re Only Passing Through) a compelling collaboration between Vinny and Aubry of a song that delves into the complexities of relationships, questioning the sincerity and intentions of one partner towards the other. Their duet echoes the magic of legendary pairings like Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty, capturing the timeless chemistry and soul of country music’s greatest collaborations.

This track illustrates how much Country music is a part of Mexican-American culture in Texas and shines a light on Tovar’s Mexican-American roots and Rodriguez’s rich musical heritage

From Aubry: “Re-recording and releasing Pass Me By with Vinny has been such an incredible experience. I feel honored to give a song that had so much cultural significance in Mexican-American/country music history a new life, all while paying homage to my Dad in the process. I want to give a huge “Thank You” to Carlos and Azteca Ranch Music for making this possible and helping create such a beautiful new rendition of a truly timeless song.”

From Vinny: «In my house growing up there was a lot of country music, as I got older I started to realize how much of an icon Johnny Rodriguez is in the space of country music. If it wasn’t for someone like him, there wouldn’t be an artist like myself. Getting to team up with his daughter for this re-imagined song was definitely a bucket list item.»

The official music video for Vinny Tovar & Aubry Rodriguez’s rendition of «Pass Me By» will premiere on Azteca Ranch Music YouTube Channel on February 4th, 2025. Filmed at the legendary San Antonio honky-tonk, The Lonesome Rose, the video brings their dynamic collaboration to life in an authentic Texas setting and features a special cameo appearance from Johnny Rodriguez himself.
